There are four roads that lead to the Atherton Tablelands. They are all steep, narrow and winding, From Cairns; the Kuranda Range Road (Kennedy Highway)  and the Gillies Highway. From Daintree/Port Douglas/Mossman the Rex Range (Mossman - Mt Molloy Road) and from Innisfail the Palmerston Highway.

A good itinerary is to arrive in Cairns, head north for Daintree for a day or two, head up to Julatten/Mt Molloy for a few days and continue on south through the tablelands to Innisfail and head up the Bruce Highway back to Cairns.
